Canstruction at Wayne State University College of Engineering

Canstruction is an organization that holds annual design and build competitions to construct fantastic, giant sized, structures made entirely out of canned food that are judged and put on display for the public. All of the food used in the structures is donated to the local food banks for distribution to community emergency feeding programs.

Canstruction has held events in over 140 cities world-wide, donating over 15 million pounds of canned food to alleviate the plague of hunger and malnutrition.

The Wayne State College of Engineering hosted a recent competition which benefits Gleaners Community Food Bank. Last year, Gleaners provided 45 million pounds of emergency food in the Metro-Detroit, the equivalent of 97,344 meals per day to people who otherwise cannot afford the food they need.

A great exhibit for a greater cause.
