Business Profile: Pewabic Pottery

Local business, Pewabic Pottery has been an institution in Detroit since 1903.  In 1991, because of such rich history, Pewabic was designated a National Historic Landmark and today is Michigan's only historic pottery.

Pieces created at Pewabic Pottery can be seen throughout the United States.  In Michigan, installations can be found in many churches as well as the Guardian Building downtown, the Detroit Public Library, Comerica Ballpark, and the Detroit Institute of Arts.

The shop was busy on our recent visit.  I saw some "12 Days of Christmas" ornaments that have my mom's name written all over them.  Pewabic Pottery is a piece of Detroit history that will celebrate it's 110th next year.  They are hosting an event Thursday, November 29th with food and drinks where 10% of the evening's sales will go to the Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation.
