I attended the meeting to allow public comment on the proposed sale of land by the City of Detroit to Hantz Farms Monday night at East Lake Baptist Church.
I stood in line for about 20 minutes before going through security and entering the auditorium where public comments were beginning.
People voicing opposition to the project far outnumbered those in favor. Person after person spoke on microphone at the front of the room, most pleading with the council to vote "No" to the sale.
The council made their decision today and voted in favor of the proposal 5-4. Here is an article covering the meeting and vote today, which had more lively public comment.
